I am going to die within the next few days, and I figured I'd tell you about the last fifteen years. In 1797, i gave advice to Napoleon on how to invade England. Then in 1802, or maybe it was 1803, Jefferson invited me back to America. Jefferson was one of the few honest men, and I was starting to disagree with Napoleon and could never go back to England, so I went back to America. I wrote another pamphlet on freemasonry, which is still not in English. I had a conflicted life where I took many sides, but I am mostly proud of it. So for the last time, Farewell.
Dear Mr. Paine,
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting life you have led. Your Common Sense pamphlet was brilliant. I had no idea you supported the French Revolution. What did your pamphlet say on Freemasonry?
I'm glad I learned more about you and your work!
